2Bici Bike Shop
Willow Springs, IL
Family-owned since 2010, 2Bici sits right on the edge of the Palos trail system with access just behind the shop. They handle everything from mountain bike suspension to e-bike service, carry Cannondale, and recently added rentals for riders hitting the trails.

BFF Bikes
Chicago, IL
BFF Bikes is a woman-owned shop in Bucktown that has built a loyal following by being the most welcoming bike shop in Chicago. Founded in 2014 and owned by Gillian Forsyth since 2020, BFF carries Giant, Bianchi, and Tokyo bikes and focuses on fitting the right bike to the rider, not upselling.

Blackstone Bicycle Works
Chicago, IL
Blackstone Bicycle Works is not a bike shop -- it's a youth education center built around bicycles. Since 1994, this Experimental Station program in Woodlawn has been teaching South Side kids ages 8-18 to build, fix, and earn their own bikes through hands-on programs mixing STEM education with real mechanical skills.

Blue City Cycles
Chicago, IL
Blue City Cycles has been a Bridgeport fixture since owners Owen Lloyd and Clare Knipper -- both Boulevard Bikes veterans -- opened the doors in 2009. They carry Masi, Haro, Del Sol, and Linus, do steel frame repairs and powder coating, and will take on the kind of project most shops would turn away.

Boulevard Bikes
Chicago, IL
Boulevard Bikes has been quietly holding its corner of Milwaukee Ave in Logan Square while the rest of the city chases carbon groupsets. They carry brands most shops won't bother with -- Pashley, Soma, Breezer, Bianchi -- and they'll tear down a vintage Schwinn and bring it back to life with the same care they give a new build.

Comrade Cycles
Chicago, IL
Comrade Cycles is an employee-owned shop in East Village with the highest Google rating in the directory. They're known for two things: doing honest, expert work on any bike regardless of price, and building custom steel frames for riders who want something truly their own.

Cosmic Bikes
Chicago, IL
Cosmic Bikes is one of the few true specialists in Chicago. Chris and Justyna have been at this for over 30 years, since 1994, starting in Wicker Park before landing in Jefferson Park.

GoodSpeed Cycles
Homewood, IL
GoodSpeed Cycles serves the south suburbs from two locations -- Homewood and Calumet City -- covering a corridor where the alternative is a big-box store. They carry Trek and All-City, run a trade-in program for riders who need a solid bike without the new-bike price tag, and their service department works by appointment so bikes aren't sitting in a pile.

Green Machine Cycles
Chicago, IL
Green Machine Cycles is built around one idea -- bikes that actually work for your life. Owner Ezra Hozinsky opened the shop in Ravenswood in 2013 after years wrenching at J.C.

Kozy's Cyclery - Avondale
Chicago, IL
Kozy's Cyclery has been fitting Chicago riders to the right bike since 1944, making them the longest-running bike shop in the city. The Avondale Megastore on Milwaukee Ave is the flagship -- BG F.I.T.

Kozy's Cyclery - River North
Chicago, IL
The River North Kozy's is the downtown outpost -- a curated selection of the same serious brands (Specialized, Cannondale, Cervelo) in the heart of the city. On Erie Street near the Mag Mile, it targets urban commuters, weekend warriors, and downtown residents who need a legit shop without trekking to the neighborhoods.

Kozy's Cyclery - Wrigleyville
Chicago, IL
The Wrigleyville Kozy's is the highest-rated of the three locations and the one with the strongest neighborhood feel. Steps from Wrigley Field on Halsted, it serves Lakeview, Lincoln Park, Bucktown, and Roscoe Village riders with the same Specialized, Cannondale, and Cervelo lineup as the flagship.

Mill Race Cyclery
Geneva, IL
Mill Race Cyclery has been a downtown Geneva institution for over 40 years, right where the Fox River Trail passes under State Street. They've gone all-in on e-bikes without abandoning the core -- riders can still get a proper Salsa or Specialized, and the wrench work covers everything from spoke replacements to full overhauls.
Smart Bike Parts
Chicago, IL
Smart Bike Parts has been a Logan Square fixture since 2003, operating out of a no-frills space on Armitage with over 180,000 parts in stock. They also run as Vern & Sonny's Bike and Snow, adding ski and snowboard service to keep the doors open year-round.

Tailwind Cycles
Chicago, IL
Tailwind is a mechanic's shop that happens to sell bikes, not the other way around. Owners Steven Blum and Ben Fietz have been wrenching together since 2010 -- Ben spent seven years as a professional messenger and worked with UCI road teams, while Steven came up through Austin shops and Chicago's cyclocross scene.

The Pony Shop
Evanston, IL
The Pony Shop has been in Evanston since 1969, and the brand wall tells you who walks through the door: Santa Cruz, Cervelo, Colnago, Pivot. This is a performance shop that also welcomes commuters, but the focus is serious cycling.

Turin Bicycle
Chicago, IL
Turin Bicycle is a Ravenswood institution that has served Chicago cyclists since 1965 -- over 60 years and counting. Founded by Lee Katz with deep European racing heritage, the shop carries its own Turin-brand bikes alongside carefully chosen small builders and international brands.

Village Cycle Center
Chicago, IL
Village Cycle Center is a Trek flagship dealer in Old Town that has been serving Chicago riders since 1971. Widely cited as the nation's largest Trek retailer, they carry one of the biggest in-stock bike inventories in the country.

Working Bikes
Chicago, IL
Working Bikes is not your typical bike shop. It's a nonprofit that has been giving bikes a second life since 1999, shipping over 150,000 refurbished bikes to communities around the world.
